General Club Rules

  1. The Clubhouse, Sports Hall and Sports Grounds remain the property of IBM United Kingdom and are leased to IBM Hursley Club for their various activities.
    HOURS OF OPENING

  2. The Clubhouse and Sports Hall are open each day of the week from 9.00 am until the normal bar drinking up period (currently 11.20 pm Monday to Saturday and 10.50 pm Sunday). Members may have access to certain parts of the premises outside of these hours but only by prior arrangement with the Club Office and the IBM Security Centre.
    RIGHTS OF ENTRY

    1. IBM Hursley Club reserves the right to determine the eligibility of persons to be admitted.
    2. During the luncheon break the Clubhouse and Grounds are available to all IBM employees, contractors and visitors on the Hursley site, save that access to bar facilities is strictly limited to Club Members, their signed-in guests and visitors (as defined specifically in the Bar Rules). Club Members wishing to use the Bar facility must be in possession of a valid membership card which should be produced on request.
    3. Booking of Clubhouse rooms, sports courts or grounds, barbecues etc. is restricted to individual club members and to the affiliated clubs and societies of IBM Hursley Club.

    BOOKING

  3. 4 Booking of a Club facility should be negotiated through the Club Office (currently open from 9.30 am until 8.30 pm Monday to Friday). The hirer will be required to complete a booking form, one copy of which will be returned to the hirer after the booking is approved by the Club Office (and in certain cases, the Club Committee). No booking is valid until this approval is given. For the sports courts and the snooker table members may make their bookings directly on booking charts provided.
    ACTIVITIES

    1. Furniture and/or equipment which is moved to facilitate any event must be replaced by the organiser(s) at the end of the event. The anticipated set-up and break-down times must be included in the time booked for the event.
    2. Special facilities must be sought by application to the Club Office.
    3. Shoes: Games players with studded shoes or boots must use the rear entrance to the dressing rooms. Studded boots or shoes are only permitted in the dressing rooms and entrance corridor. Only non-marking shoes are allowed in the Sports Hall.

    FIRE

    1. On discovering a fire, sound the alarm (break-glass alarms are situated throughout the buildings), then, if it can be done without danger, use an extinguisher to tackle the fire, otherwise leave the building.
    2. In the event of fire or on hearing the fire bell it is a member’s individual responsibility to leave the buildings and to ensure that any guests he/she has introduced to the Club also evacuate the premises.

    DAMAGE AND BREAKAGE

  4. Any damage to the premises, equipment, furniture or fittings must be reported immediately to the Club Office. The Club must be reimbursed for any damage caused by members or their guests. Members hiring equipment under the Club’s loan scheme do so on the understanding that all breakages will be replaced.
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND LOSS AND DAMAGE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY

  5. Neither the Company or IBM Hursley Club can accept any liability for personal injury or damage to or loss, theft or removal of any property brought or left by any person in or upon any part of the Clubhouse, Sports Hall, Sports Ground or any other Club premises (including dressing rooms, car parks and cloakrooms). Members and guests engaged in sports activities are recommended to have their own personal accident insurance.
    FIRST AID/ACCIDENTS

  6. There are First Aid boxes in the kitchen/bar, the Club Office and the Sports Hall link-way for the treatment of minor injuries. All injuries should be reported in the Club Accident Book, normally kept behind the bar. All such reports should be made within 24 hours of the accident.
    ANIMALS

  7. Animals are not admitted to the Clubhouse without prior permission of the Committee (except those trained or under training for the task of guide dogs for the blind or deaf). Dogs may be admitted to the grounds provided they are kept on a leash at all times and are not permitted to foul any activity area or footpath.
    CAR PARKING

  8. All vehicles must be parked in the authorised car parks and are parked at the owner’s risk.
    MAINTENANCE OF ORDER

  9. All users of the Clubhouse and Sports Ground will be responsible for ensuring that these rules are obeyed. Failure to comply with these rules in their entirety may result in loss of privileges under Clause 6(c) of the Club Constitution.
