Refurbished furniture sale for Comic Relief

By admin - Posted on 09 March 2009

Solent Youth Action volunteers are spending this week finishing their refurbishing of old furniture, in aid of Comic Relief. They received a variety of old furniture through kind donations from local companies and organisations, and are working to restore, refurbish and decorate items that otherwise would've been thrown away. The restored items will be sold in a charity auction to be held at the IBM Hursley Clubhouse on Monday 16th March, at 2.30pm. All money received in the auction will be donated to Comic Relief.

Items that will be available include small chest of drawers, bar stools, chair, coffee tables, and even a child's toy horse on wheels. The volunteers that are decorating it come from the involved project and are all aged 18-25, coming from Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford and the New Forest. The volunteers that will be holding the auction are from Take Action, aged 11-15, coming from Thornhill and Harefield in Southampton.

For all of the volunteers involved it is their first experience of taking part in something like this, and they will all hopefully be learning new skills from basic woodwork to hosting a charity auction!

If you are near IBM Hursley on Monday afternoon, please come along and see what the young people have been able to produce, and maybe even make a bid or two!
