Minutes
- Noel O'Dowd (Chairman) opened the meeting by welcoming everyone
and saying how pleased he was to see a good turnout.
- The minutes of the previous AGM were accepted without comment.
- There was no Chairman's report.
- There was no Secretary's report.
- The Treasurer's report is appended below. It was proposed, and
accepted, that the membership fees should stay at £2 for Hursley
Club members and £4 for guests. The 'rental' charge last year for
the club vests was the last of five annual payments. This means that we
can look into buying some more. Gary agreed to take on this action. Tim
Graham expressed a dislike of the club colours but, after some
discussion, it was agreed to keep them for any new vests.
- ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
- Chairman: Noel O'Dowd was proposed by Gary Whittingham,
seconded by Tony Wickham and elected unanimously, unopposed.
- Secretary: Alan Tulip was proposed by Tony Wickham, seconded by
Graeme McRobert and elected unanimously, unopposed.
- Treasurer: Gary Whittingham was proposed by Richard Littlewood,
seconded by Alasdair Hunter and elected unanimously, unopposed.
- Tony Wickham offered to gather information about running routes
and publicise it in the various changing rooms. Tim Graham offered to
give him copies of various maps he has of local routes. Tony also
suggested that it would be a good idea if members ran in their club
vests at lunchtimes to publicise the existence of the club.
- Gary Whittingham described the situation with regard to the club
getting pages on the Hursley Club website. He volunteered to run the
site for the first year.
- Tim Graham agreed to look into organising a handicap event for
the club championship.
- Alasdair Hunter suggested that we should organise an event for
non-members in order to pubilicise our presence. He agreed to
investigate what form this should take and come up with a proposal.
- Graeme McRobert suggested making the Friday hill session a more
officially sanctioned club event. It's existence will be publicised on
the club website, and Alasdair will continue to act as 'coordinator'.
There was a discussion of how the format of the session could be varied
to make it more attractive to all levels of ability.
- It was suggested that the names and numbers of members other than
non-committee members could be added to the website to give prospective
members a chance of finding a nearby contact.
- Graeme asked if we should enter club teams in some of the local
events, such as the Clarendon Way Marathon. This was generally thought
to be a good idea, but some members are first claim with other clubs
and so could not participate. It will have to be done on an ad hoc
basis.
