The minutes of the last AGM were accepted, with some points arising:
- Sally pointed out that there were no running club notices on the
notice boards near D East changing. She said she will produce a notice
for approval.
- Sally has been pursuing the possibility of moving one of the
water machines on the first floor of D East to the ground floor D East
Lobby, where it would be accessible to runners.
- Sam raised the issue of drinking water not being available in the
clubhouse, but no action was proposed.
Noel O'Dowd (Chairman) commented that we were still just ticking over
as a club, with a show of strength only in the RR10s. He asked if we
should be doing more, a point that was the subject of discussion later
in the meeting (see below).
Treasurer's report is attached below. By coincidence, the subscriptions
collected exactly matched the fees for affiliation to the SEAA and HAA.
(The subscriptions for next year will stay at £2 for IBM Club
members and £4 for guests.)
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Chairman: Noel O'Dowd was proposed by Gary Whittingham, seconded by
Sally Whittingham and elected unanimously, unopposed.
Secretary: Alan Tulip was proposed by Sam Massey, seconded by John
Cooper and elected unanimously, unopposed.
Treasurer: Gary Whittingham was proposed by Alasdair Hunter, seconded
by Sally Whittingham and elected unanimously, unopposed.
CLUB OPEN DAY
It was generally agreed that the running club should have a notice
board (at least) for this event on Monday 29th May. Noel agreed to find
out about getting a display board. Sally will look into materials,
maps, posters. Alasdair will get some pictures. Sally said she could do
the set-up on the preceding Sunday. Andy will put beginners schedules
on the club website, and these could be made available on the day in
hardcopy.
AOB
Noel's question about the club doing more generated some discussion:
- Gary suggested sending out a questionnaire with the membership
fee request asking what people want. This was agreed.
- Diego suggested moving the Friday hill session to a less 'social'
day. The consensus was that having the intervals session on Tuesday
rather than Wednesday and the hills on Thursday rather than Friday
might be more popular.
- Restarting the track sessions, and having a group long run after
work were also mentioned.
Andy said if anyone has any favourite routes, he can put route maps on
the website. These should be in the format of jpegs from Google Earth.
Alasdair is proposing to set up a measured mile with start/finish in
front of Hursley House. He thought of organising a 'beginners mile'
competition, which could be advertised on the Open Day. It was
suggested that it might be better to have the start and finish by the
clubhouse.
Alan brought along the Club Handicap Championship trophy, which has not
been awarded since 1992. There were no volunteers to organise a
competition to allow it to be re-awarded.
