Minutes
- The minutes of the last AGM were accepted with one correction
after Gary pointed out that the treasurer's report said 2005 when it
should have been 2006.
- The treasurer's report for the year 2006/2007 was accepted. See
below for details.
- Noel O'Dowd was re-elected chairman unopposed. Proposer: Tony
Wickham. Seconder: Peter Hancock.
- Gary Whittingham was re-elected treasurer unopposed. Proposer:
Alan Tulip. Seconder: Graeme McRobert.
- Alan Tulip was re-elected secretary unopposed. Proposer: Gary
Whittingham. Secoder: Sam Massey.
- Alan Tulip attempted to explain the current turmoil in the
organisation of athletics in England, with major changes having led to
the setting up of a rival organisation ARC (Association of Running
Clubs) to EA (England Athletics) who are taking over from the previous
set-up. The period of uncertainty regarding who to affiliate to is
likely to last for some months. Alan promised to report back to members
when the situation has clarified, particularly with regard to the
organisation of the RR10s. The meeting agreed that, since an increase
to about £5 would cover affiliation to either organisation, the
budget should be set on that basis, with final figures to be agreed
later.
- Alasdair asked if the Hursley Mile would be held this year. Gary
said that he would talk to Rick Kellaway about it. It was the consensus
that this event would have to be in aid of a charity for it to attract
a worthwhile number of participants.
- Sam Massey is able to pass on information about orienteering to
anyone who is interested.
- Alan Tulip promised to look into the possibility of awarding the
Club Handicap Championship trophy this year on the basis of the most
improved runner in the RR10s.
